Originally this book series was meant to end at chapter 8 of this book. After years of work studying the subconscious mind and writing about it, I was glad to finally be done and began the process of getting it ready for release. However, in between the time of completing chapter 8 and preparing this book for release, I went through something of a spiritual crisis which caused me to take a great deal of interest in near death experiences. Although I had always been curious about near death experiences and treated them as a legitimate resource of information regarding the supernatural, I hadn’t ever really obsessed over them or spent a large portion of my time researching them. It was more like, I’d come across them every so often and would then try to use them to further my understanding of spirituality. However this all changed during my spiritual crisis. Around this time, I began looking into near death experiences much more deeply and, without really intending to, began studying them very intensely – much more so than I ever had before. What was interesting about my perspective this time was that I was able to study these experiences through the lens of my understanding of subconscious energy mechanics – something I did not have much of a concept of prior. As I continued to listen to more and more of these different accounts of NDE experiences, I believe I actually began to see the “bigger picture” of reality as it relates to metaphysics. In this case, the term “metaphysics” refers to the mechanics of the spiritual world which exists beyond this physical one. Because I felt I’d learned so much valuable information during this time, I’ve decided to include it in this book through these last two chapters. In this first chapter, we will discuss some of the basic properties of manifestation and will then explore what I’ve come to believe is the nature of our soul. In the next chapter, we will talk even more deeply about the topics discussed in this chapter by going over what I believe to be the most fundamental laws of metaphysics.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH SLEEP APNEA

After spending so many years studying the subconscious and writing this book series, which was initially only one book at the time, I was quite happy to finally be coming to the end of it. Although I suspect I will always be studying subconscious energy in some form or fashion, I’d rather it not also be the case that I’m always writing. Honestly I do not like to write at all and have never had any real interest in it. As I eagerly came close to finally completing this book, I decided to take some time off from my job so that I could accomplish just that. During this time I was essentially locked away in my room writing non-stop, day in and day out. Well, at some point, I noticed that I started to have trouble sleeping and breathing. It wasn’t terribly bad at this time but I could tell that something was off. I would often wake up not feeling fully recharged and felt like I needed more sleep not long after waking up. Furthermore, I had this sense that my body had a much weaker cardiovascular system. At first, I just thought that I needed to exercise more as the way I was feeling seemed similar to when I go too long without it. At the same time though I could also tell that what I was feeling was a little different from those times too. I probably should’ve looked into it more early on but I was just far too focused on finishing this book and simply ignored it. Well eventually, as you might have expected, it got worse and worse. I then started to notice that I was feeling more and more anxious as well. It was like there was this feeling of impending doom that stuck with me all the time. I wasn’t charging my subconscious much during this time because I needed to stay focused on writing and charging my subconscious for stuff that was actually fun always interfered with that focus, so I just endured it.

Well one day I got really anxious and this feeling of impending doom got much stronger. That feeling alone would have been bad enough but it actually got much worse than that. That same day I noticed that I couldn’t sleep at all. It was clear that this wasn’t just a matter of having a little insomnia or a little trouble sleeping. I knew that something more was going on here. No matter how hard I tried, I simply could not sleep. Every time I tried and my mind started to drift, I’d get more anxious and could feel my heart pound more strongly. This would always wake me back up and cause me to have to try to sleep again, in which case the same thing would happen later and the cycle would just repeat itself. Eventually I would just stop trying to sleep and would have to get up and go about my day without it. Needless to say, I was extremely tired and could barely function. Yet no matter how tired I was, I simply could not go to sleep for much of the time. And to make matters worse, because I’d kept trying to go to sleep initially but could not, I had to stay awake for an even longer period of time later to build up what I later learned to be called “sleep pressure” or “sleep drive”. This refers to your body’s effort to get you to fall asleep. Normally this drive increases as you’re working throughout the day and helps you to easily go to sleep at night. However, this drive gets used up in a sense each time you try to go to sleep. If you do try to sleep but are unsuccessful in actually falling asleep, you’ll have still used up some of your sleep drive and will now need to stay awake for a little while longer if wish to recover some of the sleep drive you just used up.

Well because I’d kept trying to force myself to sleep, I’d keep using up more and more of my sleep drive and would need to stay awake for extremely long periods of time in order to replenish it. Of course I didn’t know any of this initially as I’d never had any reason to research the intricacies of sleeping and disabilities or diseases associated with it. It was so bad at first, I thought I might actually die from not being able to go to sleep. I remember being shocked at just how long a normal 24 hour day really was. When you don’t sleep, a normal day actually feels like two days. Remembering things that occurred at the beginning of the day feels like trying to remember something that happened yesterday. It was really bad for me at that time. About a day and a half after this all started, I finally managed to get some sleep early in the morning. This at least confirmed for me that I was still capable of sleeping. However, I woke up again after about only 1.5 to 2 hours. This was after being awake for most of a day and half. I did feel a little better but quickly became exhausted again and still kept feeling this sense of impending doom and intense anxiety. Because my anxiety was so bad, I had to watch family and general audience rated movies so that my anxiety wouldn’t be triggered. I even started watching kids movies since those triggered my anxiety the least. Normally I don’t even watch much tv, but I started doing so during that time because I had to do something to pass the time. Bare in mind I did not have the mental acuity needed to keep writing or to do anything really that was actually productive.

During that time I was very focused on God and started praying to him more and more. It was around that time that I came up with the concept of the spiritual trade off effect and decided that I wanted avoid behaviors that push spiritual energy away. Well, because I was so focused on God, I thought I’d done something to offend him and believed that maybe he cursed me with not be able to sleep. I know that might sound a bit silly to say now but that kind of thinking is actually a side effect of high anxiety. Because I thought God cursed me, I didn’t even try to start using my “scientific mind” to study my condition and try to figure out what the problem was and how to find a solution to it. Obviously if God will’s something to be true, there’s clearly nothing I can do to get around it. However, as I prayed to God even more during this time of crisis, I would have certain spiritual experiences that indicated to me that maybe he had not cursed me after all and that this problem was actually something else. However I couldn't understand what it possibly was since it seemed to come on so suddenly and was so intense. Funny thing was, I actually thought about using intention to charge my subconscious in a way that compelled my body to sleep. I actually did do this a little bit and found that I was actually able to sleep more easily when I did. However I did not want to really go too far with this approach because it may not have solved the underlying problem causing my inability to sleep. If a person is sick because they’re not eating enough vitamins, giving them pain killers and anti-inflammatory medicine will help them feel better but it won’t solve the underlying problem causing the condition in the first place. It will just get worse.

Before I could try to charge my way out of this condition, I first needed to know what was actually causing it physically. After finally doing some research and attempting to figure out what the problem was, I eventually came to suspect that I had a condition called sleep apnea. This was something I’d never heard of before and had no concept of how it worked or what problems it created. However, based on my research, the symptoms of this condition seemed to fit what I was experiencing perfectly. This includes the intense anxiety I was feeling all the time around then. Eventually I’d done a sleep test and found that I had severe sleep apnea. I got a device called an apap machine and eventually, though not right away, got better and better sleep. Now I’m able to sleep pretty normally again and can actually enjoy the process of sleeping again. However during this time of crisis, since I felt like I was going to die, I had developed a renewed interest in near death experiences. I started researching them almost obsessively and had a great deal of free time to do so since I wasn’t working and wasn’t sleeping. I was mostly just looking in to them to get a sense of comfort regarding what awaits me in the afterlife. However, what was interesting was that I began to think about much of what these NDErs were saying in terms of what I already knew about the subconscious mind. This gave me a much broader perspective about reality and the nature of the subconscious mind. I started to think about concepts in subconscious energy mechanics on a much larger and more metaphysical scale than had ever occurred to me previously. Eventually, when I started to get better sleep, I started theorizing – as I’m always doing – even more about the subconscious but doing so in terms of its relation to metaphysics. In this chapter and the next, I will discuss the most important principles of what I believe I’ve come to understand about the nature of reality and the make up of the self as a result of studying NDEs.

MANIFESTATION AND THE SUPERCONSCIOUS

One concept I came to learn about, or verify to put it more succinctly, was that of the superconscious mentioned in chapter 1. At the time, this was simply a budding theory of mine that I hadn’t fully explored yet. However this concept seems to have been confirmed in the reports of many near death experiences. Carrie Kohan is a famous NDEr who wrote a book about her NDE called the “The Five Lessons of Life”. In this book, she claims to have spoken to God as well as a council of spiritually advanced angelic beings. It was shown to her that our thoughts and desires actually project outward from us and can be picked up by both the conscious and subconscious minds of others. These thoughts then act like invitations that attract others into your life. Betty Eadie is another famous NDEr who claims to have spoken to Jesus and a council of higher beings in her death experience. Similarly it was explained to her that thoughts have the power to change reality. In fact I believe Eadie also mentioned that the collective thoughts of everyone on the planet actually has the power to change even the weather. As I continued to read and listen to the NDE accounts of others, I’ve noticed this message being repeated over and over again. However, as someone who has literally written two books on the subconscious mind, I would constantly interpret these messages in terms of my understanding of the subconscious. This lead me to conclude that they’re probably talking about the planetary subconscious field, which I call the superconscious, that I had theorized about.

What’s interesting though is that this field appears to be much more powerful in its effect than I was giving it credit for. Furthermore I learned that that this planetary subconscious field grid does in fact create a manifestational effect that we’ve come to know as the law of attraction. This same phenomenon is also explained in many NDE experiences. There is a very in depth explanation for it Carrie Kohan’s book. This was also something I believed might be true as I’ve experienced it in my own life. However what made learning about these phenomena through NDE accounts so fascinating is that I was able to think about them from a much broader perspective than I had ever considered before. In a sense, it felt almost as if I was a 2 dimensional being gaining insight in to what it was like to live in a 3 dimensional world. I began to think about the far reaching effects and metaphysical consequences of a lot of the mechanics of the subconscious that I’ve come to think in terms of. It was fascinating that such ideas had never occurred to me before, yet they seemed to naturally be inspired within me after reading and listening to these experiences. I’d like to now share many of the conclusions I’ve come to believe in regarding the nature of manifestation as it relates to the superconscious. Among the most important of these consequences has to do with the nature of manifestation and our relationship with God. This is not a common connection normally made when discussing the law of attraction, however I believe it to be most fundamental aspect of the nature of manifestation. We will discuss this connection in the next chapter where we discuss the laws of metaphysics.

MANIFESTATION CHARGE

In order to discuss the nature of manifestation more formally, I think it’s best to first talk about a new kind of subconscious charge that we never fully went over yet. I have alluded to this charge briefly throughout the book but haven’t discussed it more directly since I wasn’t yet sure about the nature of manifestation. However we can now talk about this charge in a much more clear way. As a recap, recall that the superconscious is essentially a kind of metaphysical field that consists of the transcendental connections between all of our subconscious minds. This field is not static in nature but instead is dynamic in the sense that it is constantly changing with time. This is because the subconscious mind of each individual that makes up the field is also constantly changing with time. As your conscious mind continuously produces different intentions, the state of your subconscious is also continuously changing in response. Now because your subconscious mind is also connected to everyone else’s subconscious mind, you have the ability to weakly influence the subconscious mind of every other person on the planet. This is able to occur without you even being aware that it is happening on a conscious level. When multiple subconscious minds charge in a very particular way, there appears to be a kind of emergent intelligence that forms within the superconscious that causes it to compel these same individuals to interact with each other in a way that “matches” or “coincides” with their charge. This phenomenon is generally called the law of attraction.

What is meant exactly by the terms “matches” and “coincides” can change somewhat depending on the nature of the charge. In some cases this simply means being compelled to interact with people or institutions that help to sustain some feeling or subconscious frequency that you’re used to charging. There isn’t actually some grand goal or event that the individual, or individuals involved, are all chasing. This is a rather passive and somewhat boring application of the law of attraction. The much more interesting case occurs when an individual is actually chasing some grand goal or event. In this case, the activity that goes on in the superconscious becomes much more interesting and has much more potential. It is in this special case that it really begins to transcend by inducing specific compulsions within yourself and others. These compulsions act to guide multiple people to all come together and interact in ways that are aligned with each person’s goals. A simple way of looking at it is to think of the superconscious as another tool to help you “manifest” the reality that your “goal based” intentions are constantly asserting that you want. When you have a habit of using intention to constantly express goals that are easy to achieve, and therefore are very short lived, you will likely not notice anything special going on that needs to be attributed to some kind of metaphysical manifestational force. Of course the superconscious is still there helping you to manifest this unchallenging reality even then. However when your intentions are constantly expressing goals that are more difficult to achieve and therefore are more long lasting and continuously repeating, the full power of the superconscious mind really starts to comes through.

In this case, there is a type of cumulative effect that goes on in the superconscious that allows it to compel you for a prolonged period of time. This prolonged period of compulsion acts to guide you in creating the reality that your intentions are saying you want. This guidance often occurs in the form of inspirational thoughts which help you to come up with the overall vision and plan for how you’re going to accomplish the goal your intentions are expressing. This guidance can also occur in the form of compulsions that make you feel an urge to take certain real world actions. This includes going somewhere that just so happens to put you in the right place at the right time to take advantage of certain opportunities that you may not have come across otherwise. And what’s interesting about all of this is that it will occur on a subconscious level that you will likely not even be aware of consciously. At the very least, this power of manifestation does not require your conscious mind to be aware that it is happening. The superconscious is only responding to your subconscious mind which, in turn, is responding primarily to your conscious mind as far as the goals it expresses go. And this really gives us a hint as to how to properly charge your subconscious for the purpose of reality based manifestation. A simple emotion type charge, based solely on intensity, wouldn’t quite be the best approach for this purpose. Yet, at the same time, a pure transcendental performance type charge alone wouldn't quite be the best approach either. This is because performance based charges, at least as we’ve discussed them in chapter 13 of book I, are mainly based on performing some activity very well. Neither of these subconscious approaches are really quite a match for what we’re looking to do when it comes to manifestation. After thinking about this for a moment, I’ve come up with what I believe to be the best approach for charging the subconscious for the purpose of manifestation.

I call this new type of charge a manifestation charge. This of course is because this charge doesn’t just make use of your own subconscious energy when it comes to achieving the conscious mind’s goals. Rather, it also uses the available energy in the superconscious mind as well. This is a special type of subconscious energy that results from the collection of all the individual subconscious energies that make up the superconscious. This superconscious energy is able to influence the subconscious minds of others and can better enable you to reach your goals through your interactions with them. There are other metaphysical implications of the effect of this energy as well but we’ll discuss those in more detail in the next chapter. To charge your subconscious for the purpose of reaching your goals with the help of the superconscious mind, you’ll need to do something that’s a little bit of a mix between an intensity type charge and a transcendental performance based charge. I actually already alluded to this technique a little bit in chapter 1 when I spoke about, what I believe to be, some of my initial experiences with the law of attraction. The first step is to charge your subconscious to express the belief that you will achieve some goal. I mentioned previously that I kept focusing on a goal of mine and kept charging the belief that I would absolutely reach this goal no matter what. I would often do this in the morning, using a morning charge, and then a few times throughout the day as well. I particularly liked to listen to motivational videos from Eric Thomas while doing so. That really helped to stimulate my subconscious to charge up at the determination, motivation and ambition frequencies.

As I kept doing this, I could feel my subconscious charging the belief that I would accomplish my goal more and more intensely. In this sense, a manifestation charge reflects many of the properties of an intensity based charge, similar to emotions. However this alone is not enough to manifest your reality, at least not in an ideal sense. The next step involves planning and calculation. Once I had felt so insanely determined and certain that I would achieve my goals, I’d then constantly start trying to brainstorm how I would actually go about reaching it. I knew that my negative mind would be quite limited in its ability to think up a highly creative and complex plan for achieving some goal that was difficult to reach. So I would often try to enter a transcendental state first and then try from there to come up with some master plan regarding how I would reach my goal. As I kept doing this, my subconscious creativity, or intelligence, would charge and I’d eventually gain the ability to brainstorm ideas on a transcendental level. Eventually, even if it took days, I’d finally come up with a plan for how I was going to reach my goal. I would then actually take action toward reaching my goal and do so according to the plan I came up with during my transcendental brainstorming sessions. If needed, I would also charge my subconscious for transcendental performance if the plan required that I perform very well during some aspect of the plan. In this sense, a manifestation charge also reflects a transcendental performance charge as well.

Now, even during this time of planning, calculating and taking action, I would still focus on my overall goal a few times throughout the day and take a few moments to simply assert to myself that I would absolutely accomplish this goal no matter what. During these times, I’d feel my subconscious charge belief very intensely again. Furthermore, as I accomplish some part of the plan or at least take action toward it, I’d once again focus on the whole plan overall and would once again try to transcendentally brainstorm better ways to reach the my goals through this plan. As I take more actions toward this plan and as more opportunities start to appear in my life, there’s essentially more information from a slight change in circumstances that makes it ideal to transcendentally brainstorm again. In many cases, I’ll be able to focus more directly on the most current part of the plan and transcendentally brainstorm better ways to reach the next part of the plan. In a sense, as the basic framework of the plan that I originally made starts to come into fruition, it also starts to become more specific. As it does, I can transcendentally brainstorm in a less general way and start doing so in a more specific way. I would then once again take action based on this new brainstorming and the cycle repeats itself. This in a nutshell is how you perform a manifestation charge. As you keep doing this day after day after day – engaging in this cyclic interplay between belief, planning and action – your subconscious ends up charging in a very special way. In particular this kind of charge causes the superconscious to begin compelling you and others to have certain thoughts and take certain actions that better enables everyone involved to reach their goals.

This phenomenon causes you to start having ideas, meeting people and visiting locations that are all “aligned” with your goal based intentions. This of course is what is meant by the term manifestation. Eventually, as you keep performing this manifestation charge, you will eventually reach the goal you set out to achieve. As you watch your hopes and dreams begin to manifest into reality, it will essentially feel as though some magical force is actually helping you to reach your goal. You should get the sense that certain people, places and opportunities are coming into your life in a way that seems to go far beyond random chance. This is even true when measured against the obvious fact that the odds of you experiencing these kinds of events would naturally increase simply by virtue of you spending more of your time focused on your goals. The apparent magic you experience both in luck and in fortune would appear to go even beyond that probable inevitability. However there are two important caveats that should be acknowledged when it comes to understanding the nature of manifestation more deeply. The first is that this phenomenon is not absolute. In other words, it is not necessarily the case that every event, person or opportunity that appears in your life is doing so due to your manifestation charge. This is a property that I have heard others attribute to this phenomenon as well but I don’t actually believe this to be the case. The reason is that you, as well as everyone involved in your manifestation charge through the principle of alignment, have free will. This means that no matter how strong some compulsion is from your subconscious, even those boosted by the superconscious mind, you can still choose to resist it and do whatever it is you wish to do in that moment.

Thus events, places and people that show up in your life while performing this charge are not necessarily guaranteed to do so solely as a matter of your manifestation charge. Now although not every single event that occurs in your life will have done so due to your manifestation charge, it will generally be true on average that many of the events that occur in your life will have done so as a result of your manifestation charge. In other words there will always be a strong correlation, and not absolute causation, between the events that occur in your life and your manifestation charge. Another important caveat to acknowledge about this charge is just how difficult it actually is to perform. Or, perhaps more accurately, just how much time, effort and attention this charge requires. One of the biggest misunderstandings, in my opinion, about the nature of manifestation is how to actually do it properly. Many people think that simply using your negative mind to dwell on a goal very often and for long periods of time will enable you to manifest your desires. That of course is not how it actually works in reality. Your subconscious experiences the phenomenon of subconscious entropy so it will actually start resisting the act of charging in relation to your goals if you simply focus on them in a non-subconsciously stimulating way. Furthermore, even when you do stimulate your subconscious properly and cause it to charge in relation to your goals, you’ve got to give a huge amount of your attention to this charge and do so for a relatively long period of time – however long it takes for you to reach your goal. Recall that your subconscious responds more powerfully whenever you give some subject more and more of your attention. Well in order to perform a manifestation charge more potently, you’ve got to give this charge more and more of your attention. And, even after this, you’ve got to keep your attention on your goals in this manner – so that your subconscious remains charged and manifestation can occur – until your goal is reached.

This means that it will be hard during this time to charge other emotions for the purpose of pleasure or to charge for the purpose of transcendental performance in activities not related to your goals. This is why most people have so much trouble properly manifesting the reality that they wish to have. Performing a proper manifestation charge not only requires you to be constantly charged up in relation to your goals, both in belief and performance, but also requires you to do so for a relatively prolonged period of time – taking away from your ability to focus on other things. How long should you stay like this? Well that’s the thing, there’s really no rule to it. You will simply have to maintain a charge in this manner for how ever long it takes you to reach your goal. Some goals may require you maintain a manifestation charge for only a few weeks to a month. Others may require you to maintain it for years. How big the goal is relative to your current position will of course play a factor in how long it takes you to manifest the reality you want. Few people have the drive to maintain this kind of charge for a prolonged period of time in this manner. Most people would much rather relax and enjoy themselves in the short term time frame. But by doing so, they end up constantly killing their manifestation charge and disrupting the superconscious activity that would have helped them to form the reality they wish to have. This occurs because they’re giving so much more of their attention toward enjoyment as opposed to manifesting.

Thus, by default, they’re manifesting a reality that sustains their current capability to enjoy themselves but not necessarily a reality that provides new ways to enjoy oneself. To manifest that, you’d have to perform a manifestation charge. Thus, in my opinion, a manifestation charge is actually one of the hardest charges to perform and requires the most discipline. But when done properly, it can also be the most powerful as it relates to changing reality around you. In fact it’s so powerful that it’s not really necessary for easy to reach goals, only the difficult ones. For easy goals, your conscious mind does not dedicate its attention toward achieving a goal for a prolonged period of time. As a result, much of the special energetic activities in the superconscious that we spoke about do not have enough time to fully develop. This is because the superconscious is responding primarily to the intensity of your subconscious charge. Short term goals rarely stay in your mind long enough for you to charge them very intensely. And if you're just charging your subconscious to experience emotion very intensely as you entertain yourself, then the superconscious will still help you to sustain that reality too but that extra help won't be very useful to you because the goal was already easy to begin with. The extra bit of magic you get from the superconscious that helps you to create the reality you want is really only necessary for big goals that require you to focus on them for a prolonged period of time.

MANIFESTATION SCALING AND QUANTUM REALITY SHIFTING

In this section, I’d like to focus on two important aspects of the phenomenon of manifestation that I believe are worth looking at in order to better understand it. The first is, I believe, quite integral in truly understanding the nature of manifestation from a metaphysical perspective. The second is much more theoretical in nature and simply offers a rather interesting way of thinking about manifestation. The first important aspect of manifestation we’ll be discussing is related to what you might think of as the “scale of manifestation”. This simply refers to, in a sense, how zoomed in or zoomed out we are in terms of looking at the effects of manifestation. Since manifestation always occurs with a single individual’s conscious and subconscious minds, the most local and zoomed in view of manifestation will always involve looking at its effect from the perspective of the single individual that is doing the manifesting. However, because manifestation can actually affect others through the influence of the superconscious mind, the most zoomed out and far reaching perspective involves looking at the effects of manifestation across the whole planet. There are of course different scales you can look at in between these two extremes such as those within a particular community, city or state. One could even focus on the effects of manifestation from the scale of a whole sociological institution, such as the entertainment industry or a single business venture involving a group of people who are transcendentally connected through their focus on the business. However, for our purposes here, I’d like to primarily focus for a moment on the two extreme cases.

I like to refer to the perspective of manifestation from the view of a single individual as local manifestation and the perspective manifestation from the view of the whole planet as global manifestation. Looking at the effects of manifestation from both perspectives will give you a better understanding of its nature overall. This is similarly true in science where understanding the mechanics of the physical reality on extremely tiny scales, such as in quantum mechanics, and on extremely large scales, such as in astronomy, gives us much a better understanding of the nature of physics overall. So far we’ve been mostly talking about the nature of manifestation from the local perspective. In other words we’ve been talking about how reality appears to change, due to manifestation, from the perspective of a single individual. The nature of manifestation from this perspective is mostly as you might expect it to be. It is simply the appearance of various ideas, places, events and opportunities showing up in your life in a way that appears to go beyond random chance – again this will be true even when factoring in the fact that this would naturally appear to occur to some degree simply by virtue of the fact that you’re focusing on your goals more. The more interesting and perhaps less intuitive perspective involves global manifestation. This perspective looks at the way a single individual or a large group of people affect the superconscious mind and how they tend to cause reality to manifest on a much larger scale – up to and including the whole planet.

I actually briefly mentioned this possibility in chapter 1 when discussing the law of attraction. I have since come to believe this idea much more strongly after listening to many near death experiences. In a simple sense, we can think of the act of manifesting as a cumulative phenomenon. This means that its power grows in strength more and more as more people are involved in it. Now most people are not collectively all focused on achieving the same goal and therefore are not all charging their subconscious in a way that adds to the strength of manifestation, relative to some particular goal, occurring in the superconscious. If anything, a single individual will usually be focused solely on goals that have to do with their own local reality. The strength of their ability to manifest reality within the superconscious is not very strong from a global perspective but it can still be strong from a local perspective. That individual can increase their power to manifest locally by performing the manifestation charge described earlier. However, even with this charge, it will be difficult for a single individual to manifest on a global scale. To accomplish that, you need more and more people to add their power of manifestation to a common goal. At first this may seem like a fairly rare phenomenon. But I believe it’s actually very common. It’s true that it might be fairly rare for a large number of people to properly perform a manifestation charge for the same goal. However, remember that the phenomenon of manifestation occurs within the superconscious regardless of whether you’re performing a proper manifestation charge or not.

A manifestation charge, as I’ve described it earlier, is simply a technique to add more power to your ability manifest. However, the superconscious is always responding to your subconscious and is working to manifest reality on a local scale, relative to you, in a way that is aligned with the pattern of intention that you’re consistently producing. Thus it is possible for a large number of people to inadvertently produce intentions that add manifestational power to the formation of a particular reality. For example when hundreds of thousands to millions of people consistently produce intentions that charge a certain feeling while focused on a particular celebrity, this actually makes it easier for others to focus on that celebrity, or ones like them, and feel those same feelings. Put another way, these other individuals would receive a charging boost from the superconscious that allows them to charge some particular emotion faster than usual. Similarly when a large number of people are focused on a basic necessity, like making money, this adds huge power to the superconscious and causes reality to manifest on a global scale that sustains this feeling. Thus the more strongly a large group of people believe they need money to find happiness, the more likely reality is to manifest across the planet, or simply within the country those people are located, in a way that reflects that belief. This is important because it means that any institution that has the ability to direct the intentions of large numbers of people, also has the power to strongly influence the way reality manifest on very large scales. We will talk more about the implications of this in the next chapter when we talk about the laws of metaphysics. There we will focus on the nature of manifestation as it relates to spiritual energy.

The next aspect of manifestation that I’d like to talk about is much more theoretical in nature and is not as integral in understanding the overall idea of manifestation in general, but it is still interesting to think about. This has to do with the way time works and the way in which reality gets created as a result of manifestation. An interesting question we can ask about the phenomenon of manifestation is whether or not it, in a sense, respects the arrow of time. By this I mean does reality get created in a kind of linear way that is constant with respect to the evolution of time. From a purely human perspective, all of reality seems to unfold in this chronologically linear way. However Einstein’s special theory of relativity tells us that time is not necessarily as fixed as it appears to be to us. Two events for example, that are said to be spacelike separated, can occur in different orders relative to different observers. Because there is no causality between these types of events, with respect to a certain period of time, there are no paradoxes created by this varying order of occurrences. Thus we see that time does not necessarily function in a completely linear way relative to some particular observer. Does a similar phenomenon occur with regard to the way reality appears to manifest to a single individual? Does reality manifest in a way that is not exactly how it chronologically appears to relative to us? I actually believe the answer yes.

To understand this, let me first briefly talk about something I noticed years ago when I used to practice psychic abilities. Although I did not mention this in chapter 7, I often attempted to use psychic abilities for the purpose of precognition way back when I was still trying to figure out how they work. During this time, there were often moments where I felt as though I was retrieving psychic information about a possible future, rather than the actual future as observed by me over time. I believe reality manifests in a somewhat similar way. In a simple sense, I believe that the future is not necessarily fixed or constant with respect to the flow of time. This is because our conscious mind, which exercises free will, actually exists outside of time itself. Thus simply looking into the future won’t necessarily allow you to precisely see what choices a person makes and therefore how their reality unfolds. Instead the future actually exists as a state of infinite possibilities relative to each decision we make. And whenever we make a decision, that future state collapses and one of the possible futures, before we made our decision, becomes the present relative to our perception. From there, a new future state is created with a whole new set of infinite possible futures. And when you make another choice, this new future state collapses again, changing what we perceive as the present, and a new future state with another new set of possibilities is created and so on. In other words, the future is not actually a fixed blueprint for how reality will manifest through time as we know it. Rather, the future much more closely resembles how the wave function operates in quantum mechanics.

The quantum mechanical wave function is a mathematical object that theoretically contains information about every possible state that a quantum object can exists in. Within this library of information is also information about the object’s observable values. This includes information for example about the object’s position, velocity, momentum and so on. Now you might think that an object’s observable values, such as its position, are always fixed and have a single value at any given time. But the study of quantum mechanics shows us that this is not exactly true. A quantum object for example experiences a phenomenon called superposition which is not experienced by larger objects that we can easily observe in the macroscopic world around us. Superposition is a principle that allows quantum objects to actually have multiple observable values at once. For example a quantum particle can actually exist in multiple locations at once simultaneously. Yet, as soon as we try to measure its position, the particle suddenly changes in a way that causes it to only have one position instead of several. But why did it have multiple positions before our measurement and only a single position after our measurement? This is a phenomenon that still confuses scientist till this day. The most accepted explanation is the Copenhagen interpretation which says that the wave function describing the state of the particle undergoes a phenomenon called “wave function collapse” the moment we measure the particle. This collapsing effect is why the particle now has a single value after measurement. However scientist still don’t know why measuring the particle should cause the wave function to collapse in this manner.

Another interpretation of this phenomenon is called the many worlds interpretation. In this explanation, the wave function actually doesn’t collapse per se. Instead, the superposition experienced by the quantum particle actually represents many different worlds, or realities, in which the particle exists. When you finally measure the particle, you simply slip into one of those realities and therefore measure the value the particle had in that particular reality. Of course how and why this slipping into another reality effect occurs can neither be explained nor verified through objective observation. While I can’t be sure which model more accurately describes quantum systems, I believe that the many worlds interpretation actually quite accurately describes how reality manifests in time. The future actually exists in many possible states and it is our choices that cause these futures to manifest or come into observable existence. Now in quantum mechanics, the wave function is a mathematical object that is attributed to a single particle. It has no real casual relation to the rest of reality. However, in the many worlds interpretation, this singular and highly localized scope of the wave function is not allowed. Instead, we must accept that the observer performing the measurement of the particle is also a part of the wave function. Similarly I believe that the reality that manifests across the whole planet is contributed to by the decisions of every individual involved. Every choice each one of us makes brings a new possible reality into existence that is experienced by everyone on the planet. Thus all of our choices contribute to the new reality that forms.

When we make positive choices, we help a positive reality to manifest both in our local reality and in the global reality. When we make negative choices, we cause a negative reality to manifest both on a local scale and on a global scale. Of course each choice we make is less significant in terms of its ability to influence the global reality that manifests compared to local one that manifests relative to us – but still, each decision everyone of us makes should still be considered important in the manifestation of the global reality. This concept of reality, as we experience it, shifting in a way that mimics quantum mechanics is one I like to call quantum reality shifting. This is not necessarily a new concept related to manifestation but it is one that seems to be gaining steam in online spiritual communities. Furthermore I’m not necessarily sure everyone who believes in this concept thinks of it in the exact same way that I do, but they will generally believe some close variation of it. If we accept this theory of quantum reality shifting, then an interesting question to ask is how we can know whether or not our decisions are contributing to a positive reality and are actually helping to cause that reality to manifest? After all, as discussed in chapter 7 of book I, our subconscious can tell us what behaviors are right or wrong in the context we give it but it can’t tell us whether or not those contexts properly describe reality. Perhaps our best bet is simply to engage in behaviors that our subconscious tells us is moral and hope for the best? Well that’s actually not a bad idea, but I believe we can do even better than that. The ultimate key to ensuring that our decisions create the best possible reality is our relationship with God. By establishing a dialogue with God and living within what we Christian's would call his Word, we're able to receive instruction and guidance from God and can always be assured then that our decisions are creating the best reality possible. We will talk more about this concept in the next chapter. However I should also now mention that I believe our connection to God is facilitated in a more metaphysical way through another part of your self that we will talk about shortly. This other aspect of what you are also helps you to make decisions that are aligned with God's will.

THE CONNECTION BETWEEN DREAMS AND NDES

The next major topic I’d like to begin talking about is what is commonly referred to as your soul. However, before engaging with this topic, I’d like to take yet another detour and talk a little bit about how I came to have the beliefs about the soul that I now have. I’d say it pretty much began when I started trying to understand the fundamental nature of NDEs more deeply. If you’ve ever studied near death experiences, then you know that they tend to vary greatly. Although there are certain characteristics that are quite common, such as seeing a bright light, traveling through a tunnel and receiving a life review, there are still some aspects of the experience that seem to be somewhat unique to each individual. I've often wondered as to why this is the case? Surely there was some objective and invariant truth about the nature of NDEs in spite of how different they often appear to be based on what we’re told about them by NDE experiencers. Now, me being me, I often like to think of things in terms of the operation of the subconscious mind. I believe for example that the subconscious is the ultimate powerhouse of our overall creative capabilities. Surely this aspect of the self must play a role in what people see during NDEs. This would be similar to how our dreams tend to be very random and all over the place due to the nature of our subconscious mind. As mentioned previously, I believe that our dreams are the result of our brain weakening its ground state charge and allowing our subconscious to express itself in a much more free way. Because the negative mind aspect of the conscious mind also reduces too, this gives the subconscious mind much more apparent freedom than normal.

What if the same thing that allows our dreams to be so different and so random, also played a role in what made near death experiences so different and unique to each individual. Of course near death experiences are not so random that we can say that they’re the exact same thing as dreams. However, maybe there is still some connection between them. After thinking about this for a while, I then remembered something I’d heard from a near death experiencer who attempted to explain why NDEs were all so different. He mentioned the “black void” that is commonly referenced in NDEs. This is a particular dimension that we seem to go to after death and is a place where our thoughts seem to create the reality around us very quickly. He mentioned that the time in between thinking something and it being created in that dimension is so quick, that people often don’t realize that their own mind is creating the experience that they’re having in the void, including negative experiences. Yet, this explanation does not quite seem sufficient to me because surely there are aspects of NDEs that are not quite occurring in direct response to our thoughts. I remember hearing another near death experiencer mention that our thoughts do create the reality we perceive around us during an NDE but it’s not exactly that simple either – what things manifests around you is still a bit more complex than that. As I continued to think about this, I once again thought about the nature of our dreams and the random nature they seem to have. This same kind of discrepancy seems to occur there as well. Certain aspects of dreaming seem to be somewhat predictable and appear to occur in response to our thoughts and pattern of thinking. And yet, at the same time, certain aspects of our dreams do seem to be completely random and unpredictable.

What if the same thing that’s responsible for this unpredictability in dreams is also responsible for the unique differences in what we see during NDEs? If so, then this mysterious something must be with us at all times like our subconscious mind is since it is apparently able to influence every dream we have and is also there even during NDEs when we die or are close to death. Furthermore this mysterious component must not respond entirely to our conscious mind’s thoughts since it is apparently able to influence our dreams and NDEs in ways that cause them not to directly respond to our conscious mind’s thoughts. In other words, this mysterious something practically has a mind of its own and is not simply following the will of the conscious mind like the subconscious mind is. But if all of this true, then this must mean that there is some kind of awareness we have that is actually just as integral to our metaphysical make up as both our conscious and subconscious minds are. However this mysterious aspect of the self must be a part of us that we are even less consciously aware of than the subconscious mind. But then just what is this other component of our make up and how do we learn more about it? After thinking about this for some time, I eventually remembered a term I’d often heard in spiritual communities and in many near death experiences called the “higher self”. I never quite knew what to make of this term and simply ignored it for the most part. I tend to try to keep my theories within the scope of what I can verify through my own personal experience as much as I can. So if I can avoid speculating too much about something outside of my experience, I will.

Of course metaphysics in general will always involve a great deal of speculation. However, I prefer to try to minimize that speculation if I can. Since I’ve never really had the need to refer to something like a higher self in my theorizing about the metaphysical reality, I never actually paid much attention to this term. However, when it came to trying to more fully understand the nature of dreams and NDEs, I did finally run into a phenomenon that I didn’t feel I could fully, or sufficiently, explain within the current paradigm of my beliefs alone. For the first time, the only answer that seemed to fill in the blank was this concept of a higher self. As I began to think about reality from this perspective, things just started to make more sense. I realized that the reason dreams always seemed to have random elements to them is because there is an aspect of the self involved in them that is much different from the other more well known aspects of the self and for which seems to have much more autonomy than the subconscious mind and body for example. But then just what is this mysterious aspect of the self that we often refer to as the higher self? What role does it play in our experience of reality? If it is not commanded by the conscious mind in the way the subconscious is, what governs its actions? What does it do and why does it do it? These are questions we will answer in more detail throughout the rest of this chapter.

THE NATURE OF OUR SOUL

When I first started to accept the idea of a higher self, I learned rather quickly that many of the beliefs I had about it were in fact verified in the way it was described in many near death experiences. Carrie Kohan describes the higher self in great detail in her book “The Five Lessons of Life”. Another NDEr Venia Hill talks about the nature of the higher self in great detail as well. One of the most fascinating NDEs about the higher self, in my opinion, comes from a man named LaMar Dixon who, interestingly enough, has sleep apnea just like me. In describing his NDE, he talks about the surprise he experienced waking up in another realm and speaking to a version of his self that he never knew was there but, at the same time, realized was always there as well. There are many more NDErs that talk about the higher self and give us information about it’s nature. After learning about the higher self by listening to these experiences and perceiving its nature through the lens of my understanding of the subconscious mind, I’ve come to some basic beliefs about the nature of this aspect of who we are. First, I noticed that the higher self is often referred to as the soul in many NDEs as well. For this reason, we will use the terms soul and higher self interchangeably. In a nutshell though, the soul is essentially a 4th component of the make up of what we are – the other three of course being our conscious mind, our subconscious mind and our physical body. Unlike these main three however, the soul exists in a much higher realm that is much closer to God. This means that the soul is much wiser and much purer than we are. It exists in a state of holiness and, as far as I can tell, is virtually incorruptible. It is pure goodness and wants goodness for ourselves and others.

The spirit, as described in Carrie Kohan’s book, is what we are – or at least is the part of us that we are easily aware of. It is the lower self and is the part of us that lacks wisdom and can become corrupted. The spirit is connected to the soul via a kind of metaphysical tether or cord. I believe this cord to be different from the silver cord mentioned in chapter 8 although I acknowledge that it could also be the same cord as well. This appears to be another kind of cord that connects the two aspects of the self and allows them to communicate with each other and share experiences. But then what is the ultimate goal of the soul? What does the higher self, who exists in a much higher realm and is much nearer to God, desire from us or wish to experience through us? Well we’ll talk about what the soul desires in more detail in the next section. However, for the most part, we can simply say that the soul’s ultimate wish is for you – the lower self – to find God and sustain a strong relationship with him. Every action the higher self takes is ultimately in lieu of that single main goal. Again there is much more to say about this and we will talk more about the soul’s purpose and desires in more detail in this chapter and the next. But helping you to find God is the best way to sum up the primary nature of the soul and why it chooses to do whatever it does. But then what are some actions that the soul chooses to engage in if any? Does the soul, which has its own autonomous awareness, simply passively observe us living our life and decides not to interfere with us in any way or does it actively involve itself in our lives and engage in actions that will alter our destiny and future?

Well I’ve come to learn that the answer is actually the later. The soul very much involves itself in our lives and takes action all the time in an effort to lead us toward God. This mostly occurs through its influence on our subconscious mind and its ability to plant inner knowings and compulsions in our subconscious mind. Of course the higher self, being so close to God, may also have the ability to influence the physical reality in a much more powerful way as well, though I believe it either rarely does this or does this in ways that we’re not easily aware of. For the most part however, I believe that it gives us messages by influencing our subconscious mind. The most interesting and fascinating manner in which these messages are received would have to be, in my opinion, through our dreams. I think it’s fair to say that most of us have been taught by society that dreams are rather pointless and meaningless ramblings resulting from some kind of healing or replenishing activity going on in our brain while sleeping. As is often the case with orthodox science, this assertion comes from trying to explain a highly metaphysical phenomenon in terms of a purely materialists world view. And, as is also usually the case, our intuition tells us that this suggestion can’t possibly be right. Dreams clearly contain stories and environments that are way too random to possibly be explained solely in terms of our own brain and conscious mind. In my case, I’ve even admitted that dreams were too random to be explained in terms of the subconscious mind as well. As mentioned earlier, there was still some mysterious aspect to dreams that I could tell was different from the normal activity of the subconscious mind that I started become aware of.

Well a good chunk of that mysterious and unexplainable activity comes from our higher self. When we’re dreaming, our higher self will actually plant suggestions into your subconscious in a way that manifests in what you’re dreaming. There are more factors involved in what you actually end up dreaming which we’ll discuss in the next chapter. However, one of those factors, I believe, will always be your higher self. The word “always” here is important and was not chosen randomly. I believe that every single dream you have, contains a message from your higher self. No dream opportunity is wasted. When I first started to theorize that the soul was the mysterious component that was involved in what we dream and what people see during NDE experiences, I began to remember all kinds of dreams I had during my spiritual crisis and realized how many messages I’d been receiving through them during that time but didn’t realize it. For example, during that time, I kept praying to Jesus and asking him show me that he hadn’t left me because I thought that God had hated me.  I remember then having a dream where a loved one close to me was drawing Jesus on piece of paper. We were both very relaxed and seemed to be praising Jesus through our hearts and minds. And a later time, I also had another dream where Jesus appeared in a meadow surrounded by children. Both of these times, I just thought that I had these dreams because I was thinking about Jesus so much when awake during this time. Yet, most of my dreams did not contain any story or imagery about Jesus. These dreams were the exception not the rule. However I still did not figure it out yet.

I remember when I first thought that God hated me, I asked for a sign from him then too and had this dream of me being in a hospital area. What was interesting about this dream however was that I felt this intense emotion that I believe most closely resembles the healing frequency. I felt such a powerful feeling of peace and healing in this dream. I then wondered if this healing area represented where we go to when we die. I also had this understanding during that dream that what I was believing at the time was not true and that things that are considered to be important in the spirit realm was somewhat beyond my understanding. I also understood that the problem causing my anxiety was not in my spirit, but was in my body. This was true because I eventually learned that I had very intense anxiety and that this was due to my sleep apnea and not because of anything that God was doing. Only I didn’t know that at the time. During this spiritual crisis, I kept having dreams containing supportive messages like this but I kept thinking that they only resulted from wishful thinking. Later I realized of course that this was not the case. The soul pretty much always uses your dreams as a chance to give you a message. This even includes times when you pray to God. I’ve noticed that, when I would pray to God and ask certain questions, I’d often have dreams that gave me the basic idea of the answer. Now you might think that this would simply mean that God himself influenced my dream. However I’ve noticed that I also have dreams containing messages about what I prayed to God about even when I did not ask God a question. Right around the time of my spiritual crisis, I started to praying to God much more often, almost everyday.

However I usually do not ask him for anything. I will often simply talk to him about things on my mind and that I’m going through. Even then, I’ve noticed that my dreams will contain messages related to what I’ve prayed about. Sometimes I’ll even get messages about things I was thinking about praying about but hadn’t actually done so yet. Then there will be times where I’ll get completely new messages that I wasn’t thinking about at all and will even get instructions or directions through them. We will talk more about the nature of dreams and the higher self in the next chapter. However, I’ve since come to believe that our higher self gives us messages all the time and is always with us. I found this revelation to be extremely comforting and very meaningful. Although I pray to God often and feel his presence in my life very strongly as well, I still found it very comforting to also know that we have a kind of supporter and advocate in the higher realms that we’re able to communicate with in a very direct and tangible way. I like to think of the tether between our spirit and soul as being almost like a phone line that allows us to communicate with the higher realms very easily and very naturally. To this day, I’m now constantly receptive of messages that are contained in my dreams and have always found myself to be more spiritually motivated and inspired by listening to and trusting in these messages. I’ve yet to follow these messages and end up in a place that felt less spiritual than before. That being said, I would certainly be remiss if I did not mention that your higher self is not the only entity capable of influencing your subconscious and planting messages into your dreams. Negative entities can of course do this too. How to know which is which and when you can trust a message you’re receiving will be discussed in the next chapter.

THE REALM OF BEING AND THE REALM OF BECOMING

We’ve now gone over a good chunk of theory explaining what the higher self is and what the higher self does. But what we haven’t really discussed too much in regards to the higher self is the why. Why is the higher self tethered to a lower spirit? If the higher self is already so close to God, why does it need a lower spirit that is much further away from God? Why does it go out of its way to help that spirit to find God? Why is it even involved in the whole process? Well I believe these answers are actually given to us in many near death experiences as well. After listening to many of these stories about the nature of the soul, I believe I’ve come to a basic understanding of why the soul is involved in our lives and what it hopes to gain from the experience. In a certain sense, understanding the soul more deeply may help us to understand the main purpose of life itself. To understand the nature of the soul more deeply, let’s first try to get a sense of what life is like for the soul without the lower spirit self. Since the soul exists in a realm that is very near to God, the Source of all positivity, it experiences a true version of what we would call heaven. It does not experience pain, discomfort, hate, anger, separation, ignorance or really any negative emotion or state of not knowing. It is truly in a state of pure joy and bliss at all times. It could simply sit still, totally inert, and be just fine for all of eternity if it wanted to. It would not experience any less joy, peace or happiness by doing this. Yet there are still actions the soul does take as an expression of its own awareness and desire. Yes, I believe it is still possible even in this realm to want things. But the soul does not want things in the way that the lower spirit self does. What the soul wants is very natural to its own nature, which is divine.

The soul wants to continually experience the infinite and far reaching nature of God. It praises God and wishes to explore the goodness of God from every possible perspective or angle. This can include simply experiencing different positive emotions more deeply such as a humor, peace, joy, love or gratitude. This could also include the act of creating things that reflect the magnificence of God. For example the soul could create a mini dream like reality that very precisely approximates the subconscious form beauty as well as other aspects of God’s nature that can be expressed in concrete, or physical like, creations. And the soul can do all of this forever and be perfectly happy as it does. Yet, there is still one problem here that the soul can’t quite overcome. This might seem like a crazy thing to say in the face of such a perfect and blissful existence. However, even in this heavenly realm, there is actually a very specific problem that souls experience and it’s not exactly a small one either. It’s actually kind of huge. This problem has to do with the soul’s very nature and an inherent dichotomy in God’s nature. The soul naturally wants to explore the goodness of God from every perspective it can but there are actually aspects of God that cannot be entirely explored in this heavenly realm. The nature of God is so expansive that there are aspects of him that, ironically, cannot be fully explored while in a state of perfection. These include the qualities of forgiveness, perseverance, healing, redemption, compassion and so on. Even the process of learning and discovering are not aspects of God that can be known in this heavenly realm. We spoke a little about this concept in chapter 3 when discussing the spiritual trade off effect.

There is no opportunity to forgive in this heavenly realm because souls cannot hurt each other nor do anything immoral. There is no opportunity to be a hero in this realm because no soul is ever lacking in power or is ever in danger. You cannot experience the process of healing because you cannot be damaged in any way. There isn’t even an opportunity to learn how to become a better creator because you’re already able to create at the max capability that God has granted you. Thus the soul, though content with this heavenly realm, still desires to explore the aspects of God that cannot be known in this heavenly realm. It can still know these qualities of God in a purely informational kind of way but it cannot actually experience them. The only way it can truly do this is by, ironically, existing in a state that is much further away from God. The soul can only truly experience forgiveness if it has actually been wronged in some way. It can only truly experience redemption if it has been immoral in some way. It can only truly learn how to become a better creator if it does not already have that ability suped up to the max. And it can only truly gain wisdom and experience spiritual growth if it does not already know all there is to know. In other words the soul needs the opportunity to experience what God is from the perspective of what God is not. And part of accomplishing this requires it to also exist in a state that reflects what it is not as well.

I believe that to deal this problem of souls wanting to explore these aspects of God which could not be known in heaven, God created an entirely different realm and dimension. And in this realm, it was possible for things to exist in a state of imperfection. Thus, while this may seem like a curse to us lower self spirits, this actually represents one of the greatest gifts that God has given us. By doing this, he gave souls a chance to better experience his own nature from a whole new perspective that they did not have previously. In creating this imperfect realm, he created the physical universe that we’re occupying now – though there may be a range of lower to higher spiritual realms that exists in this imperfect realm as well. Now, even though most of the problem of experiencing the nature of God more fully was solved by creating this imperfect reality, there was still one more problem. The soul itself still exists in a state of perfectness. It cannot really occupy this imperfect realm while it is still itself perfect. To deal with this last problem, a less perfect – or less God like – self needed to be created. This less perfect self would have the ability to occupy the imperfect realm and explore it. And through this less perfect self, the soul would finally have the opportunity to experience the nature of God more fully. It could now finally truly know what it was like to forgive others, overcome fear in favor courage, gain wisdom from state of ignorance and actually get better at creating its own reality in some way.

I believe this desire to know God from the perspective of what God is not is ultimately the entire reason why physical life was created – at least in the form that we experience. I often like to call this realm in which the soul exists as the realm of being. This is because, in this realm, the soul is already perfect. It does not have to do anything to achieve perfection and only needs to be. In contrast to this, the realm of imperfection is the realm of becoming. This is because beings that exist in this realm are not naturally perfect and therefore can experience the process of becoming perfect. It is in this experience of “becoming” that a whole host of other qualities of God can now be explored. Now in order for this whole process to work properly, there were many rules stipulated for how this “game”, in a sense, is supposed to work. Many of these rules have to do with the way the physical world works, which we study in the branch of science called physics. And many of these rules have to do with the way the metaphysical world works, which we’ve actually already discussed in large part by virtue of our discussions on the nature of the subconscious mind. However one of these many such rules that I’d like to focus on right now involves the sovereignty of the spirit itself. It may actually seem somewhat unethical for the higher self to create a lower self spirit and force it to exist in the realm of becoming, where it will experience a great deal of discomfort and hardship, just so that the higher self can vicariously experience the process of becoming in some way. However God and the higher self are incapable of immorality. Thus when a lower self spirit is created, it actually has its own mind and free will – at least this is what is said in many NDE experiences that talk about the soul. The spirit is then given a good idea of what kind of life it will experience, including the pain and hardship it will endure. It can then only be born into this world if it agrees to what it will experience in that life.

Thus the hardships of life are not actually forced onto us against our will as we sometimes think they are. This was also something that Jesus explained to Betty Eadie in her NDE according to her. We willingly choose difficult lives in an effort to help our souls experience the joy of becoming. We usually do this because, when we are newly created as a kind of particulate piece of our soul, we are still in very high frequency state and only desire to praise God and experience his nature from different perspectives, same as the soul. Thus willingly choosing a difficult life is not usually an issue for the spirit, although it sometimes still can be – we will talk more about this in the next section. And once a spirit is born into this world, God, angels and the higher self do not abandon the spirit, simply leaving them to their own devices to “become” some in way. Instead, they are still with that spirit at every moment during their journey in this world. They are continuously helping that spirit, often in ways the spirit is not consciously aware of, to help the spirit undergo the grand process of becoming throughout its life. God and our other helpers are always there assisting us but they don’t make their presence too clearly known because then we would not be able to experience a truly authentic process of becoming – thus defeating the purpose of creating this world and having a lower self spirit dwell here. It would be like throwing a surprise party for someone but then slipping up in some way that gives the game away. Now that individual won’t truly be surprised when they see the party planned for them because they already knew it coming. Similarly, if God and higher beings give us too much knowledge and helped us too much, then we’d know too much about them and our overall purpose here and would not experience a truly authentic process of becoming from this particular perspective.

Another important aspect of this whole process was that negativity be created and allowed to exist. This includes negative intentions and negative expressions of subconscious energy such as hate, anger, jealousy, violence, rage, sadness, fear and so on. When we produce intentions that charge these kinds of feelings or perceive the outcome of these feelings in the actions of others, we are reminded of what we do not wish to be. All of us have an innate desire to be good, which is another way of saying “be more like God”. So when we engage in or perceive evil, we’re stimulated and inspired by it to become more like God in some way. Thus evil, ironically, acts like a kind of metaphysical enzyme or catalyst for good. Of course this does not always occur in one’s response to the perception of evil. Some people continue to choose evil willingly despite knowing that it is wrong. I believe this occurs out of ignorance about one’s true nature and the true nature of reality. God, angels and our soul still help us even then to help get us off of that negative path and turn back to goodness. On the flip side, there appears to be negative entities who work for the opposite goal and want us to experience a process that is essentially the reverse of becoming. In this case, we become less like God and move further away from him rather than the other way around. Furthermore, based on many of the NDEs and spiritual experiences I've read about and some of the experiences that I've had, I think there was also a problem that occurred long ago that made life in this realm much harder than it was originally planned to be. I believe this problem is generally referenced by the story of the fallen angels in Christianity. I've heard this idea briefly mention by Dean Braxton when recounting his NDE experience. Thus this game of life that we play in the realm of becoming is not without its risks. It seems that the game must be allowed to play out honestly in order for the soul to truly reap the benefits of the experience. In other words if a spirit chooses to destroy itself using its own free will, it will be allowed to do so. It is unclear however if it can permanently destroy itself in this manner. In some NDEs the answer appears to be yes and in others it appears to be no.

REINCARNATION AND SOUL CONTRACTS

One more aspect of the soul I wanted to cover in this chapter has to do with the nature and concept of reincarnation. Of course, I do not claim to know all there is to know about reincarnation nor can I be sure that anything I’m about say on the topic is true for certain. However, after watching various NDEs, I’ve come to have certain beliefs about the nature of reincarnation as well. I believe some basic theoretical framework on how this phenomenon works is important in understanding the nature of the soul more deeply. The natural first question to ask is whether or not reincarnation actually exists. There are many who believe that it does not while there’s likely even more that believe it does. Well, according to most NDE experiences, it seems to be true that reincarnation does in fact exist. However, there are still some points of contention even within NDE accounts that may suggest that it does not. From what I’ve gathered, the answer is actually kind of both a yes and a no – it both does and doesn’t happen. It really depends on how you look at it. I believe that after death, the spirit is released from the body and ascends into a heavenly realm where it meets God, angels and guides.   There it receives a life review to go over the life it just lived and the lessons it learned from this life. Now most NDEs don’t talk too much about what happens to spirits after this point as those having the NDE experience are often told to they have to go back as they have more work to complete. But then what does happen after this point for spirits that have completely passed on from this world and aren’t coming back?

Well from what I’ve gathered, the spirit is allowed a period of time to pretty much relax and enjoy itself. It is allowed to interact with other people who have passed on and create whatever dream like realities its heart desires. It is also allowed to gain even more knowledge about the nature of reality if it wants to. Now what’s interesting about all of this is that it sounds like the spirit is in what we Christians would call heaven. But that’s the thing, I don’t think it truly is – at least not the highest version, or level, of heaven. I think that spirits actually go to a place sometimes referred to as paradise. This is one of the lower dimensions of heaven. I do not think the lower self spirits can actually enter the higher realms of heaven, the true heaven where God’s most pure essence dwells. They’re simply too impure to do so. In the same way souls cannot enter the realm of becoming and need us as avatars to explore this realm, we similarly cannot enter the realm of being and need our souls to explore the nature of that realm. However, while this is a general rule, it is not an absolute rule. It seems that there has been a way made for spirits to actually become pure enough to enter true heaven. As a Christian, I believe that this way is made through our relationship with Jesus Christ. His spirit is able to purify ours of its imperfections and become perfect so that it can finally enter true heaven. Betty Eadie similarly mentioned that all people need to accept Jesus Christ into their hearts in order to enter heaven. I believe that this includes our time during physical life as well.

Now, when the spirit enters true heaven, there is a catch. The spirit is not allowed to simply roam around freely as it previously could when it was in paradise. Instead, the spirit actually merges back with its higher self and the cycle of life is finally completed. In a certain sense, the individual spirit is no more but, in another sense, it is also much more. Again it depends on how you look at it. This phenomenon is not unlike a grain salt being thrown into the ocean. Once it dissolves into the large body of water, it may be impossible to ever truly get back that same grain of salt – in that sense, the grain of salt is no more. However, at the same time, the grain salt is a part of something much larger now and can no longer be interacted with in a way that focuses solely on its smaller more individualized form. I believe that this re-merging of the spirit and soul is like a life cycle that is meant to eventually complete itself at some point for everyone. When a person dies, they essentially begin a new life in paradise and are allowed to stay there for however long they wish to. Time does not operate in the spirit world the same way it does here so they can actually spend eternity there if they’d like to. But, after a period of time, I believe the spirit eventually decides to move even further into the light by merging with the soul. At this point, all of the experiences of becoming that the spirit gained, both in physical life and perhaps even in spiritual life, become permanently imprinted on the soul. Through this re-merging and imprinting, the soul more fully gains what it originally desired – which was the very reason life was created in the first place – the chance to experience more aspects of God’s nature.

The soul then repeats this process by splitting itself into a spirit again. With the power and authority of God, a new spirit is created and is placed back into the realm of becoming. Here, the spirit is very much like a new born child although it has vasts amounts of knowledge and capability. Similarly to the time after death for the soul’s previous spiritual avatar, the new spirit is allowed a period of time to relax in a lower heavenly realm and enjoy their time there. Eventually however, the spirit will chose to move forward and incarnate into a body that dwells in the physical realm. The soul and spirit then decide on a new life to experience and choose what aspects of becoming they will both work on experiencing. For example if it is decided that the spirit will learn about faith and trust in God and other people, that spirit may be born into circumstances that cause it to experience various difficulties, and perhaps even tragedies, that cause it to mistrust others and rely more on itself. Over time the spirit realizes the futility of this and then starts to come to the conclusion that it can’t really do much on its own and not only needs others for help but, most importantly, needs God in order to do anything that can be considered truly worthwhile. There will be various circumstances that occur in the spirit’s life in a kind of reoccurring pattern. This will give the spirit more and more chances to face difficult circumstances and, eventually, experience the processing of becoming in some specific manner related to faith. God, angels and the soul will of course help the spirit to eventually achieve this process and experience of becoming. And when that spirit dies in the physical world, it goes back to paradise, has a life review and the cycle repeats itself.

The soul can do this endlessly over and over again and, if it wants to, can even start the process over. In this case, it will choose to forget all that it has experienced through its many incarnations and will rediscover God through similar experiences again. It can, and perhaps does, repeat this cycle forever. Now in order to pull all of this off, the soul must also work with other souls that exist in the realm of being and agree upon various activities and roles that their avatars will play in order to help each other have certain experiences. For example some souls will play the role of an antagonists in one life and a supporter or teacher in another. These souls may then switch roles and in another life with new spiritual avatars. The souls and spirits then enter in agreements called soul contracts that authorize certain kinds of interactions to occur between the spirits and souls involved. This is necessary because a soul cannot authorize any kind of negative interaction with another spirit unless that soul and spirit willing agrees to it and it is for a good cause. Thus when soul contracts are agreed upon, the spirits are born into this world – of course losing their memory in the process – and a path is essentially laid out for the spirits. At some point in each spirit’s life, the spirits will meet in the physical world and play out the roles they were meant to according to their soul contract. Now, while this path is generally laid out for all of us in some manner, it is still possible for the spirit to go astray and not follow the plan in some way. If a spirit is really stubborn, it may experience various, almost supernatural seeming, difficulties in reaching certain goals in life.

From spirit’s perspective, it will appear that, no matter what they do in life, they just can’t reach certain goals. They may even notice that others appear to reach these goals quite easily compared to them. It will seem as if certain doors in their life simply keep slamming shut. At the same time, and the spirit may not even notice this at first, there will be other doors that keep opening in their life over and over again without them having to do much of anything on their end. For example if a person is meant to experience the process of becoming as it relates to being an artist, they may notice that they have extreme difficulty in classes and jobs that don’t allow them to express their art. They may find that some mysterious phenomenon keeps occurring that seems to sabotage their efforts to invest more in some future that doesn’t involve their art skills. Yet there will be various opportunities that keep appearing in their life that allow them to become a better artist. I actually believe this occurred with me as it relates to college. When I was younger, I wanted so badly finish to college and have some job in the field of science – eventually I decided that I wanted to be an electrical engineer. To this day, the idea of being an engineer still excites me. But, no matter how hard I tried, I simply could not finish college. It’s a long story but man was it hard to attend school. It felt like there were a million things getting in my way and making it almost impossible for me to finish.

However looking back it now, I don’t think I would have came to have the ideas I have now about the subconscious mind and certainly would not have written this book about it had I actually finished college. I would have then simply gotten a job in electrical engineering, or some field of science, and would have then spent all of my time and energy focused on that. Because I always had such a scientific mind and could not really satisfy that part of my mind’s curiosity in the blue collar jobs I was working, I would often spend an inordinate amount of time studying math, science and spirituality on my own. Eventually I started to study the nature of emotions and well, the rest is history. Similarly I believe these kinds of “closed door” phenomena are experienced by everyone to a certain degree and is done to help that spirit stay on track with its purpose. We will talk more about the nature of purpose in the next chapter. I should also mention that, in this paradigm of soul reincarnation, we only looked at spirits who successfully made it to paradise. But what happens to spirits who do not? Is it possible to forever be banished from paradise and from re-merging with the higher self? It is unclear if this is possible as there is actually NDE evidence for both cases. In some NDEs, the answer seems to be yes but in others the answer seems to be no. It difficult to say for sure but I believe it always best to simply rely on and trust in God for whatever we’re allowed to know or not know. I will talk more about this concept in the next chapter.

Before moving on, one last topic I’d like to cover in this chapter involves another form of reincarnation that can also occur. It seems that the spirit can also reincarnate into a physical body again without actually re-merging with the higher self. Although this is possible, it seems to be quite a rare phenomenon. Perhaps only authorized by God under special circumstances. Before talking about this more special case, I should first mention that there is a more premature case of this that occurs as well. When new spirits are about to be born into this world, it seems that they sometimes get cold feet and back out of the experience. Since they’re able to actually experience fear in this realm, they sometimes become afraid of being born into this world. If they do decide to back out of the experience after having already been bonded to the physical body in the womb, then this can actually cause a miscarriage in the pregnant mom. I’m stating this based on the accounts of others who claim to have special kinds of memories called “pre-birth” memories. These are memories a person has pertaining to their life in the spirit world just before being born. Apparently, based on these accounts, when a spirit causes a miscarriage in this way they will then experience the impact of how that miscarriage affected others in a kind of mini life review process, something they still have despite not actually being born. It seems that, once the spirit decides again that they’re ready to be born into the physical world, they incarnate again into another body. This is not exactly what is meant by the term “reincarnation” but this is a more premature version of it that I wanted to mention here.

However, in the much more rare case of reincarnation, the spirit successfully completes a physical life, goes to paradise and then re-enters another physical life without actually re-merging with the higher self. When this occurs, the spirit seems to actually remember their past life, or lives, on a conscious level from the time of their physical birth. In some cases, they may even remember experiences they had in between lives. I remember watching a Netflix documentary called “Surviving Death” in which a child had clearly remembered experiences from a previous life of theirs and could even point out physical details in the world that were related to their past life. The most amazing case of pre-birth remembering that I’ve come across comes from a woman named Mariko Frederick. Not only was she able to remember a large number of past lives that her soul experienced, including some when she was an animal, but she could even remember details of her spirit’s life in between her previous physical life and her current physical life. Now, in my current paradigm of soul reincarnation, I believe that a spirit reincarnating without re-emerging with the higher self may be somewhat precarious because the spirit may become too impure by this process. However she mentioned that God had enabled her to go through a special kind of purification process that helped her to remove the impurities that would normally make reincarnation of the spirit tricky business. Thus it does seem to be possible to reincarnate without rejoining the soul, but again this seems to be a very rare phenomenon only permitted by God under special circumstances.

Footnotes

1. Normally I don’t ask God for signs like that because asking for evidence of him in that manner is basically the same as saying you don’t truly believe in him. However, I was in such a spiritual crisis, that I did so and was able to do so in the recommended way discussed in chapter 4.

2. These beings are of course always very much with the spirit so I use the term “meets” here very loosely.
